Join us for a hands-on class with an individual coaching approach. Students will learn how to build a pastel painting from start to finish. We will focus on composition, texture, color, drawing an outline, applying an under-painting and gradually building pastel layers until the painting is complete. We will explore and experiment with a variety of pastel painting surfaces using different grades and brands of pastel sticks and analyze the various outcomes. You will also learn basic techniques that will help you master the pastel painting process.

Have you always wanted to write but can’t get started? Or are you an experienced writer looking for new ideas? This 6-week series provides inspiration and support for all writers. Each week a prompt is offered, and we write in response for 20 minutes. Then, those who wish to share can read aloud their writing. Listeners respond respectfully, offering only positive feedback about what we like and is strong about the writing. Come and experience the support and encouragement of writing in community. Let yourself be inspired by the Fruitlands landscape. All levels are welcome. Bring a notebook and a pen.

Michele has a BFA in Creative Writing and is a certified Amherst Writers & Artists writing workshop instructor. She is a published writer who has worked as an editor for major publishers, and has led writers’ groups for many years.
